About Us

THE AGYEMAN EYE FOUNDATION (AEF).

The threat of, or the actual occurrence of loss of sight can be very depressing and it is important to build support systems for persons go through such challenges.AEF has been established by a founder who has experiential knowledge of this and can best empathize with persons who are going through these challenging times.

Our Vision

Our vision is to have a world that is not only better informed about good eye care to ensure that people’s eyesight lasts them their lifetime but also where blind and partially-sighted people have the confidence to reach their full potential and the opportunity to play an active role in society.

Our Mission

The mission of AEF is to support blind and partially sighted people to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

AEF therefore aims to:

1. Educate the populace (especially those in the deprived communities) about proper eye care with the view to promoting eye health to prevent sight loss.

2. Raise funds to support people (especially children and youth) from deprived communities needing eye treatment.

3. To provide counsel for persons who have lost their sight and encourage them to learn new skill and not give on up life.

How we are to be funded

The founder has provided seed money to commence operations. However, a lot of support is needed. As a registered charity we hope to also rely on friends, family, corporate bodies, local and international bodies who buy into our vision to donate generously in cash and in kind to support our work. We also hope that we can collaborate with some ophthalmologists and clinics to provide pro-bono services to people needing eye care who we will identify as needy. We will also collaborate with counselors to counsel the blind and partially-sighted persons to identify career choices and train for them.

Transparency

With the professional support of our Auditor, A. A. Grand Consult, we hope to provide yearly audited financial statements to our major sponsors, partners and other interested parties. The Board will be open to answer (with documentary evidence) any queries that may arise.
